JUNE

PRINCE AND PRINCESS CAMP (ages 3 - 6, 3 days, morning)

1/2 Day Prince and Princess Camp

This three-day camp is designed for boys and girls ages 3‐6 to explore dance through creative movement, ballet, and tap. Together with their instructor the young dancers will create an enchanting forest full of creatures, trees, and colorful flowers that they themselves create. With the help of their magical wands, capes, and crowns they maneuver around and over the hidden obstacles in the forest and complete their journey to become charming Prince and Princess Dancers! All dancers are encouraged to dress in their favorite prince or princess costume. Camp begins each morning at 9:00, snacks are provided as well as juice and water. Parents should plan on picking up their young dancer at 11:45 the first two days of camp, arriving at this time to see what they dancers have created that day! On the final day of camp, the dancers cordially invite their parents to listen to their wonderful journey through the enchanted forest, and to watch them as they transform into magical Prince and Princess Dancers by singing a special song about dance and fairy tale powers! The informal third day showing begins at 11:15.

This three day camp is designed for boys and girls ages 6‐9. Children will explore ballet, jazz, hip‐hop, tap, and modern dance. Students will also have the opportunity to view musicals and ballets to stimulate creativity and exploration as they, together with the instructor, create their own dance routines with costumes and imagination!! This camp is the perfect introduction to a variety of dance styles and can help your young dancer decide which dance form they would like to learn more about in our fall program. Snacks, juice, and treats are provided each day. Camp begins each morning at 9:00am, pick up time is 12:00pm. An informal showing of the dancer's choreography and the presentation of the variety of dance forms they have explored will be held at 11:15 on the final day of camp.

IMPROVISATION and CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP (5 days, afternoon)

Choreography and Improv Workshop

This is a rare opportunity to work with five amazing teachers and choreographers, as they share the tools and techniques that they use themselves in creating new works throughout their year on both young dancers and professionals. Students will be guided through the process of choreography, work in multiple disciplines, practice techniques and develop tools for creating and setting movement, and learn how to set the work on others. Daily classes include a modern or jazz dance warm up followed by improvisation technique. Following lunch dancers study choreography and work both individually and in groups to create their new works. This amazing workshop ends with a performance on Friday June 30.

eXit SPACE offers an exclusive program for dancers who are ready to seriously focus on their dance training and future. The Pre-Professional Program is a curriculum-based program designed for the dedicated dance student. Dancers must be between 8 and 18 years of age. Students are placed in one of three divisions based on age and ability, each with its own set of core classes and minimum class requirements.

BALLET STUDIES WORKSHOP (5 days, Beg - Adv ballet dancers)

Ballet Studies Workshop

One week dedicated to the progression, development, and execution of ballet technique. Dancers will enjoy a traditional ballet class (barre, center, across the floor) that both warms them up yet challenges them and pushes the boundaries of their technical abilities. Following class, dancers will spend time studying the body - how it functions in relationship to the requirements for ballet, looking at joint, muscles, and bones. After lunch dancers will come back to the studio for a floor barre, concentrating on core strength, correct rotation and alignment - all while laying down with the help of gravity. Dancers end on a high note with turns, progressions, and partnering skills.

This camp is divided into two levels. All dancers will begin together the first day and hour and then be placed in the most appropriate level according to age and ability.

HIP HOP CAMP (5 days, afternoons)

Hip Hop Camp

Dancers will learn various styles of hip-hop from multiple instructors, learn the rich history of hip hop, and practice urban skills that came from this culture. They will have the opportunity to choreograph their own dances while being guided the faculty. A final performance will be held on Friday at 3:30pm.

Dancers may be placed in one of two levels according to a combination of age, dance training, and current technique level.

ELEVATE DANCE WORKSHOP (5 days, Intermediate-Advanced)

This workshop will challenge and inspire your young dancer. This workshop is designed for dancers who are on an intermediate to advanced track. Students who are ready to excel and be pushed to learn new movement, strengthen their current technique, and work hard on developing new skills. They will work on the skill of acquiring choreography quickly while they improve upon their confidence and performance ability. Classes include ballet technique, jazz technique, hip-hop choreography, modern dance technique, improvisation, partnering, health and nutrition, and intro to dance history. Note that there will be a special Parent Performance at 3pm on the final day of camp where they'll show all the dances they've learned.

This workshop is for dancers who attend the audition and who are accepted into thePROGRAM for the 2017-2018 season at eXit SPACE. The Pre-Professional Program is a curriculum-based program designed for the dedicated dance student. Students are placed in one of three divisions based on age and ability, each with its own set of core classes and minimum class requirements. Admission to the PROGRAM is through audition only. The PROGRAM students are required to enroll in 3-6 classes per week (including ballet, modern, hip hop, and jazz). The PROGRAM dancers rehearse twice per week for a total of 3.5-4 hours/week (all companies rehearse Fridays from 4:00-6:30pm Sept-June, the second day is TBA) with some vacation dates. The PROGRAM dancers perform at 2-3 competitions, attend one-two conventions, and are showcased at multiple community performances each season. Dancers accepted into the PROGRAM are nurtured, encouraged, and challenged as the faculty assists in their development and dedication to dance. Dancers involved in the PROGRAM are students who are serious about their commitment to dance and are committed to pursuing a pre-professional and/or professional career in dance
